Whenever I leave my studio, even just for a week end, I always take some work with me. I need to! May it be just a sketchbook where to jot down my thoughts or ideas for a project.

This summer was no exception and, although it’s hard to pick just that one canvas or the other, questions of size also were crucial to decide which work to take.

I finally made up my mind and opted for the very latest canvas I had started to work on before leaving.

It’s the one I eventually titled Bubbles #9, it being the follow up of a research I started last year that has led me to the series Bubbles.

Bubbles #9 is a further evolution along this same research in that, unlike the previous pieces, this time I used ink as the only tool for creating the composition.

It is interesting to realize how this specific work has taken a kind of sculptural direction, almost pushing the boundaries of a bi-dimensional surface.

This new way of elaborating the series Bubbles on the canvas has opened up a brand new territory where to explore the potentially endless combinations of materials, intuition and creativity.
